Following its impressive handling of the SuperBowl this weekend, Atlanta is set to welcome a sizable expansion for one of the city’s corporate tenants.
According reports in Bisnow, and the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Google is in talks to lease about 200K SF at the 31-story 1105 West Peachtree project, Google could add at least 500 jobs to the metro economy with its new office, tripling its current footprint in Atlanta.
Google’s move in Atlanta is part of aggressive national growth; it recently announced a new, billion-dollar campus in New York City and is taking the entirety of a 35-story office project in Austin, Texas.
In case you were still thinking about the impact of having a SuperBowl, our friends at Cushman & Wakefield estimate that:
- 96,000 hotel rooms were reserved
- 100 venues in the metro area had dedicated events
- 200,000 visitors per day, for four days, came into the city
- $32 million in additional revenues generated in city and state taxes
- $3.7 million generated just for Airbnb
Not bad, Atlanta. That news is more exciting than the actual game was.
