McDonald’s Corp has temporarily shut its headquarters in anticipation of a round of layoffs, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

“In an internal email last week to U.S. employees and some international staff, McDonald’s asked them to work from home from Monday through Wednesday so it can deliver staffing decisions virtually, the report said. It is unclear how many employees will be laid off,” the article reported.

The decision is aimed at making the fast-food giant more dynamic, nimble, and competitive, according to a report in Forbes

McDonalds moved to its current headquarters in Chicago in 2018.
