Continued from “Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Talent.”

Imagine that you are a university student. You’ve responded to a few innocuous questions, and been selected to compete in a global student competition. The hosting organization has booked your airfare, and hotel, and now you find yourself at the CoreNet Global Summit in Philadelphia. You might even be experiencing being in the United States for the first time.

Against this backdrop of expectation, excitement, and energy, you and your team spruce up and wear your best business clothes and make your way to the massive Pennsylvania Convention Center…

Waiting to welcome the teams were CoreNet Global Board Chairwoman Kate Langan and CEO Angela Cain and an impressive team of volunteers: chapters sent hosts to help the students navigate their first Summit; corporate real estate experts representing the industries the students would study were available to offer expertise and insights; and our distinguished judges were on hand for the students to meet.thank-you

Students workingFor the next 40 hours, the students would immerse themselves in the Global Summit. Their workspace, on the floor of the Innovation Pavilion, gave members easy access in order to share their experiences which the students integrated into their final presentations. Several teams arrived with printed surveys and questions for members to answer. The Academic Challenge hackathon space quickly became a hive of activity with members engaging with the students, and individual students venturing out to engage members and explore the exhibitor booths from breakfast through the evening reception.

The students spent Monday night putting the final touches on their solutions and practicing their presentations for the final round.

Learn more about the teams’ presentations in our next post.
